This is what the Clinical Roundtable offers You
Let us explain it a little more:
Becoming a More Effective Therapist
in a Complex World
Many experienced clinicians are not lacking in knowledge.
They are navigating increasing complexity—clinical, cultural, and technological—without enough space to integrate what they know, think clearly under pressure, and sustain themselves in practice.
The Clinical Roundtable Series is not just about improving what you do in the therapy room—it is about strengthening who you are as a clinician operating within an increasingly complex, unstable, and rapidly changing world.
A monthly, live, small-group experience, each session brings together a maximum of 5 clinicians for structured, discussion-based work grounded in the real challenges of practice.
Led by Richard Hill and Matthew Dahlitz, sessions integrate both the methodology and philosophy of psychotherapy while supporting clarity, confidence, and grounded clinical judgement.

Participating in the SoP Clinical Round Table on The Divided Brain was a rich and deeply rewarding experience. Matthew and Richard’s depth of knowledge, combined with their ability to integrate complex concepts into real‑world clinical practice, is truly outstanding. The opportunity to engage with fellow clinicians added an energising layer of connection and insight, making it an exceptional and genuinely enriching professional development experience.
I really liked the way you and Richard enabled us to weave together a range of theoretical concepts, some being paradoxical, in ways that enhanced and promoted learning and the integration of knowledge – a good modelling of how to engage with clients.

A Structured, High-Engagement Format
The Pressures Clinicians Are Navigating:
Practising in a Changing World
Clinicians today are working within multiple layers of pressure:
- The overwhelming complexity of clinical theory and method
- Cultural and sociological discord
- Economic pressure and burnout risk
- Rapid technological change, including AI
- Global instability and uncertainty
Most professional development does not address how to think and function within these conditions.
This series does.
Participants can expect:
Genuine clinical dialogue, not passive learning
Ample airtime to think out loud, test ideas, and refine your clinical reasoning in real time
Direct access to experienced clinicians
Engage with Richard Hill and Matthew Dahlitz in a way that supports both conceptual clarity and practical judgement
Space to work with the realities of your own practice
Move beyond abstract “applications” to explore how clinical challenges are actually unfolding in your consulting room
Multiple perspectives without fragmentation
Encounter diverse ways of thinking while developing greater coherence in your own clinical approach
A psychologically safe, collegial environment
A setting that supports honest reflection, professional vulnerability, and thoughtful exchange
A Different Kind of Professional Conversation
Built for Depth, Not Consumption
Most professional development is designed for information delivery.
This format is designed for clinical thinking under real-world conditions.
In a small, contained group, participants are supported to:
- Externalise and examine their own clinical reasoning
- Stay with complexity rather than defaulting to technique
- Develop greater coherence in how they understand and respond to clinical situations
With only 5 participants, the group becomes a working environment rather than an audience.
The result is not just new knowledge, but a strengthening of the clinician’s capacity to think, decide, and act with clarity in practice.
To this end, each session engages three interconnected levels of clinical work:
- The methodology of psychotherapy — what we are doing
- The philosophy of practice — how we understand what we are doing
- The process of practice — how we actually do this work, moment-to-moment, more effectively
